Yesterday we took our giant tour bus to a place called Teotitlán del Valle to see a demonstration in rug weaving. The woman who ran the show, Abigail, was definitely the best part. She was overflowing with light and good energy. She took us through the whole process, from combing the wool to working the loom.
After the demonstration, Abigail hustled downstairs to cook us a fantastic lunch of original Zapotec recipes passed down through the generations. I have no idea what the dessert was called, but it contained yogurt, rosemary-petal ice cream and chocolate flan. Because I'll certainly never have a chance to eat such a concoction again, my lactose-and-gluten-free friend let me eat hers, too. I liked it so much that I wanted to document it here with a photo:

Wy Jennifer, I just spent the day going through your last posts and am excited to read more and more. I truly wish you had your own show on travel channel so you could do this all the time. The downside to that would be that it would take you away from family and friends (namely me), and it would take you away from teaching. I will pray for your safety and a memorable experience, and hope that you keep letting us live vicariously through you.
Thanks, Eddie. :)
